THE CITY OF HOUSTON is hiring a Police Officer Trainee. This part-time position is designed to transition into a full-time police officer position with the City upon completion of all required training and certification. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, have or in the process of completing a 2- or 4-year criminal justice program, eligible to become a licensed peace officer within one year of employment, be able to pass a comprehensive background check, and have a valid driver’s license. Benefits of part-time employment include Paid P.O.S.T. certified Police Academy, Earned Safe and Sick Time, pro-rated PTO, and pro-rated holiday pay. Pay Rate for 2024 is $18/hour.

2025 Summer Recreation Director THE CITY OF HOUSTON is accepting applications for a temporary, part-time Summer Recreation Director to oversee 2025 programing. The successful candidate will plan and coordinate all summer rec softball and baseball including league registration, in addition to coordinating day activities, staffing, including recruiting and hiring umpires for ball games. Activity enrollment typically takes place in late March with activities offered from the second week of June through late July with softball and baseball mirroring the respective league calendars. 2025 Flower Care Attendant THE CITY OF HOUSTON is hiring a seasonal worker to provide care for business district flowers (hanging baskets). This position begins after Memorial Day and ends with Labor Day. Care for the flowers is required 7 days a week. Hours may be flexible. Position holder is paid for two hours daily and work under the supervision of the Public Works/Maintenance Department. Flower care consists of operating a riding lawn tractor, pulling a trailer which contains a water tank, and wand. The successful candidate will water daily and fertilize flowers as needed.
